2008 Commodore's Welcome
March 21, 2008
Dear Members:
I am pleased to report that the Club is in outstanding condition. Our newly renovated Clubhouse is solid and ready to be a place for sailing and boating enthusiasts for many more decades. The Club membership has been at a safe level to cover costs. We have approved contemporary by-laws. I commend outgoing commodore, Patty Gregory for her leadership in these areas. The hard work of our Restoration committee, in concert with generous donors, has finished the construction of our clubhouse.
The NDC has scheduled an impressive calendar for 2008. The mission of the NDC is simple — the promotion of sailing and fellowship. Our calendar reflects this. The Club will continue in support of our Signature boat, the Townie. A full schedule of racing is planned in the Townie Class. We are also developing a growing schedule for Laser racing. The cruising Class has been growing and we envision a terrific season. If you have not raced before, I urge you to give it a try. The racing is informal and a lot of fun. The Centennial race and the King of Clubs Regatta will cap an ambitious racing season. The Hospitality Committee has scheduled a great line up of events.
In May we plan our work party and float launch. Some upgrades are in development for the gangway. Please pitch in with the work. We have tried to keep dues low by having much of the ordinary maintenance of the floats and clubhouse done by the membership. Your role is critical and appreciated.
The NDC is one of the things that makes Nahant a wonderful place and improves our boating and sailing activities. Please do your part and join in the fun.
Best Regards,
Dan McMackin
